GETTING STARTED:
To help us come up with the perfect custom design for your packaging art, there are a few things we need. The more information we have on your product, it's target market, your vision for the look of the packaging art and what words and images it will contain, the better.
1. Complete & Return Our Design Guide
Coming up with the right look for your product can be challenging, and EDS is here to help. Let our years of packaging design experience work for you. We make the process fun and easy.
Filling out the Design Guide will allow you to communicate your thoughts and ideas, list important descriptive keywords, sketches and provide links to examples you like. We will synthesize all that information and come up with a design that you're sure to like.

2. Supply & Prioritize Packaging Text
Please supply the text for your packaging, disc and collateral print material in an electronic format such as a (.doc), (.rtf) or (.txt) file.
Examples of text materials to be supplied:
Packaging: product name, version number, author's name and bio, description or overview, quotes, testimonials, etc.
Print Material: track listing including song or chapter titles, duration or track times, name of band or speaker, reviews and awards.
Disc Art: disc name and number, instructions, etc.
3. Provide Images, Illustrations and Photos for Your Packaging
Remember the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words"? This is certainly true for your packaging project also. In most cases, an image can immediately convey your message better than any words can.
Please supply your images in an electronic format and at the highest possible resolution setting of the original art. Images should be pprovided at or above the final output size at 300 dpi to ensure best quality.
If you don't have the exact art you need, we can tap into our own considerable resources for stock photos, illustrations and images to find something just right for your project.
4. Putting It All Together
Once you have gathered all the requested information together, send it on to us at the address listed above. We will synthesize everything and come up with a design that you're sure to like.
Helpful Design Hints
FILE FORMATS
We can accept just about any file format for your art, but please indicate in a note accompanying the materials whether the files are PC or Mac and which version of the software was used.
PHOTOSCALING
Please do not scale up photos to make them a higher resolution. If they are not big enough to start with, and a larger version can not be found, let EDS resize them for you or we can find a similar photo or illustration which may fit the bill.
LAYERED FLEXIBILITY
Whenever possible, keep and send editable RGB layered versions of all Photoshop files for art and layout.
Even if you have given us a final design without any need of extra design work, we will often need to adjust the artwork slightly to allow for bleeds and a proper fit in our packaging templates.
This also allows us to make any last minute edits you may require including text and color adjustments.
ALL THE PIECES
When providing layouts in Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress formats, remember to include all linked images and fonts used within the layout along with the layout file.
